BCCI’s central contracts for men cannot be released yet, which is speculated about the retirement of Stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja from the T20 format. While the women’s main contract list was released on Monday with 16 names in three types, the men who had 30 names on the list, are expected to be exposed in the next few days. A+ category has a retained fee of Rs 7 crore, after which one player gets Rs 5 crore while cricketers in Grade B and C are paid Rs 3 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively.
The Central Selection Committee has prepared a consultation with the head coach and secretary (Deojit Sikia) before the Apex Council for approval.
It has been found that not all stakeholders are on the same page for maintaining all senior players in the A+ category. Bumra, Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja were given the highest category contracts last year.
A+ is a category where all three formats are slotted to automated selection players. Now that Kohli, Rohit and Jadeja have retired from all T20 Internationals, they have become two format players. Only Bumrah, Test Captain In Waiting, All Format is sure.
However, the BCCI wants to have an influential part of the BCCI that as far as A+ category is concerned, it wants to maintain stagnation.
In the A category, Ravichandran Ashwin will not be there because he has already announced his retirement from international cricket. There is a strong opportunity that Xer Patel, who was recently nominated for the England T20 series, can be extended from Group B.
X -ray has been regular in both ODIs and T20s and has played 14 Tests for India so far.
Shriyas Air, who was left last season, is convinced that he will return to a category, considering the 11 ODIs played this season.
Any player needs to play three Tests or eight ODIs or 10 T20 ice during a particular calendar year to look into the next season, to enter the next season.
It will also be interesting to see if the young Yashvi Jeswal is elevated to his grade B agreement, which considers his promise in the formats. In the new list, Bengal Speedster Akash Deep, who has played seven Tests and Sarfraz Khan, who has played three during the calendar year, should be included in Group C.
Dutto for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has already played the full border Gavaskar series (five Tests besides four Tonts) and will automatically join the central contract list.
Shardol Thakur and Rotorj Gaikwood were on the list of last year but they are not meeting the standards they need to make the list at the moment. However, consultation with the head coach and the secretary can always exempt the selection committee.
