On the fifth day in Melbourne, with the match line, Wilson rejected the appeal behind the Australian catch when Yashvi Jaswal batted under the leg on the ball. The replay showed that it was over.
In the following test in the SCG, Wilson did not give Virat Kohli out of the first ball as the third umpire, after which Steve Smith faced it after moving forward in the slips and caught Mars Libschgan in the street.

Cohenman talked about the impact of referring to an interview with this Mast Head last week.
“I was fortunate to have a huge support network to deal with it because it was very public, but there are definitely better ways to do it, and if it should not be public then that will happen.”

ICC Chair J Shah thanked Wilson and congratulated the incoming umpires Alodian Peelkar (South Africa) and Alex Hef (England) in the panel.
