Former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin has said that he will transfer the Telangana High Court to challenge the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) decision to remove his name from a stand of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
HCA Ombodsman recently ordered the removal of Azharuddin’s name from the stadium’s North Stand.
Justice (Retd) VSoria, who also served as HCA Ethics Officer, based his decision on a petition filed by the Cricket Association’s Member Unit Lord’s Cricket Club. The petition stated that Azharuddin misused his post by discretionary decisions as the then HCA president.
What did Mohammad Azharuddin say?
According to a news agency PTI report, Azharuddin said he would try to support any legal support.
“I will definitely take legal facilities and appeal to the High Court to remain on this order. It is a shame that the Indian captain’s name has been asked to remove the name,” he said in reference to PTI.
The former India captain also questioned the authenticity of the order, alleging that the Ombudsman’s era was over.
“According to the Association’s supplementary rules, the Ombudsman/Ethics Officer’s era is for one year.
‘Bullying indicate the fingers on me’
Azharuddin alleged that he was being targeted because some HCA officials could not be involved in corrupt ways as president during his tenure, after which the opposition faction alleged that the teams of age groups included those involved in the election scandal.
“The bullying, who has never held in their hands, are pointing to me to fingers. If they want to remove my name from the stand, the person who played 433 games for India, then you could remove the name of Sholal Yadav (the former India off -spinner) because he was also the president.
He said, “You remove the names of Abid Ali, Tiger Pataudi and ML Jasmaha. This is an association that does not respect the players. And on whose request, Ombudsman is acting? Club (Lord’s Cricket Club) where there is no transparency and who is the real owner.”
What did the petition against Azharuddin make?
According to the petition, it was alleged that a month after the 62 -year -old became the head of the association, in December 2019, in December 2019, the former HCA president sat at the Apex Council meeting and violated the HCA rules.
According to the HCA constitution, a resolution is needed by the general body.
The petition also alleges that Azharuddin removed the name of VVS Lakshman from the North Stand and put his name on it.
The former cricketer made it clear, “am I stupid to remove Lakshman’s name from the stand, such as the only person who played 100 plus tests from our region? In the North Stand, the Pavilion is named after Lakshman and it is still there, you can check,” the former cricketer said.
