An MBE, who was campaigning for West Sussex Hockey during a ceremony in Windsor Castle on Wednesday, was awarded.
Tess Howard, who was part of the Gold Medal Squad of the Women’s 2022 Commonwealth Games, was made an MBE for services for women and girls.
The 26 -year -old team GB Athlete, who plays for the East Greensed Hockey Club in West Sussex, has taken many years for years to be able to wear shorts while playing women.
Ms Howard, who founded the SportsWare CIC, who was involved in the non -profit community Strength Company, said that although the award was given “very honor” but it felt “strange”.
The International Hockey Federation modified its rules in 2023 to give female teams a selection among the skirts, the skirts – a skirt that contains shorts – and shorts, which are the same colors and designs.
However, Ms Howard, who is from Cambridge, said that Princess Royal has been “surprised” to find out that she needs to start the campaign first.
“It’s funny that I have been given a primarily an award to run a campaign to wear shorts,” he said.
“When you call it out loud, it’s stupid.”
He added that he believes that his organization’s work has just begun, Ms Howard said: “My slogan is in a way ‘Let’s fix it and move forward with their lives.”
