Former tennis player Serena Williams has been awarded the Princess of Austria for Sports 2025. The award is the most famous in Spain and is given to members who have performed well in various fields, including sports, arts, literature and others. The organizers of the event have said that Williams is “one of the biggest tennis players in the game history” and he also praised his work outside the tennis court. He said, “A strong lawyer for gender equality and equal opportunities in sports and society.
The 43 -year -old American won 73 career title, including 23 Grand Slam. He said in 2022 that he was turning away from tennis to focus on his family and business interests. The Princess of Astorias Award for 50,000 euros (000 57,000) is one of the eight annual prizes included in different areas, including arts, literature and science. The awards ceremony, headed by Spain’s Princess Lynor, is located every fall in the northern city of Ovido.
